Fine, coal and wood based activated carbon powder for fast adsorption, dosed directly into liquids for decolourisation, refining and effluent treatment.
Powdered carbon adsorbs quickly because the particles are so fine, and it needs no filter column. You dose it into the liquid, mix, let it work and then settle or filter it out. That makes it a good fit for batch purification, for colour removal in sugar and food processing, and for loads that come and go, such as seasonal taste and odour problems or effluent polishing.
We supply both. Wood based powder has a very open pore structure and is a strong decolouriser for syrups and similar liquids. Coal based powder is a dependable general purpose choice for effluent and industrial purification. Fineness runs from 200 to 325 mesh.
The reliable way to set a dose is a simple jar test on your own liquid, with a few known dose rates compared side by side. Our guide to powdered carbon and dosing walks through it.
In trade use they usually mean the same thing: fine activated carbon powder. What matters is the base material, the fineness and the performance figures on the certificate.
200 to 325 mesh.
Sugar and food processing, refining, pharmaceuticals and effluent treatment are the most common.
